Overview
AutoIntel Pro ("we," "our," or "the Service") is a free automotive diagnostic research tool. This policy explains what information is collected when you use the Service, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.
We do not require account creation. We do not sell your data. We do not use tracking cookies.
Information We Collect
When you submit a diagnostic query, we receive:
- Vehicle information — year, make, model, engine, and odometer reading you enter
- Fault codes and symptom descriptions — the diagnostic details you provide
- Session identifier — a randomly generated ID created when you click Diagnose; not tied to your identity and not stored in your browser
- Feedback — if you voluntarily submit a thumbs up/down rating or written comment after receiving results
- Reported fixes — if you voluntarily tell us "what the fix ended up being," we store the text you write along with the associated vehicle (year/make/model/engine), fault codes, and symptoms, so the fix can be shared with other owners of the same vehicle after review. Do not include personal information (your name, VIN, license plate, address, or contact details) in a reported fix.
- IP address — collected by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) solely to enforce usage rate limits; not stored in our application logs
We do not collect your name, email address, or any information that identifies you personally unless you voluntarily include it in a symptom description.
Anonymized Diagnostic Data
To build and improve the per-vehicle sensor reference ranges shown in the scanner, OBDecode may collect anonymized diagnostic data when you run a scan: your vehicle class (make, model, year range, and engine), the live sensor readings, and any active trouble codes. This data contains no VIN, no location, no timestamps, and no personal identifiers, and cannot be traced back to you or your vehicle. It is aggregated with data from other owners of the same vehicle class to show typical healthy ranges and how readings change when specific faults are present, and may be shared or licensed in aggregate, non-identifiable form. You can turn off this contribution at any time in the scanner settings.
How We Use Your Information
- To generate your diagnostic research results
- To log anonymized diagnosis data (vehicle info, result summary, session ID) in a private spreadsheet to monitor service quality and fix bugs
- To associate voluntary feedback ratings with the corresponding diagnostic session
- To build a community knowledge base of confirmed fixes, sorted by vehicle, that other users can reference (reported fixes are reviewed before they appear publicly)
- To enforce rate limits and prevent automated abuse of the Service
AI Processing Disclosure
Diagnostic results are AI-generated research outputs. They are not reviewed by a human technician before being displayed to you.

Data Retention
Anonymized diagnostic logs (vehicle info, result summary, session ID, optional feedback) are retained in a private Google Sheet for service improvement purposes. There is no automatic deletion schedule. You may request deletion of any session log by contacting us with your session details.
Reported fixes are retained in Google Cloud Firestore and a private Google Sheet for as long as the community knowledge base is maintained. Approved fixes are displayed publicly (without any identifying information) to other users. You may request removal of a fix you submitted by contacting us with the vehicle and approximate date.
Rate limit records (IP address + request count) are stored in Cloudflare's infrastructure and expire automatically after one hour.
Cookies and Local Storage
We use browser localStorage for two purposes only:
- Remembering your light/dark theme preference
- Remembering whether you have seen the first-visit onboarding message
No cookies are set by this Service. Cloudflare Web Analytics uses no cookies and performs no cross-site user tracking.
Children's Privacy
This Service is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any information associated with your diagnostic sessions by contacting us at the address below. Because we do not collect identifying information, you will need to provide the approximate date and vehicle details of your session to locate the record.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
